The II European Young Geomorphologists Meeting (II EYGM), organised by the Italian Association of Physical Geography and Geomorphology (AIGeo), the Geomorphological Society of Croatia (YGC), and the Geomorphological Society of Slovenia, will take place across Italy, Croatia, and Slovenia from 25 to 27 June 2026.
The event aims to strengthen international relationships and promote cooperation among young geomorphologists by fostering scientific exchange, the sharing of research experiences through oral and poster presentations, field-based activities, and the development of a strong international network of early-career researchers in the field of physical geography and geomorphology.
The meeting will open in Ogulin, Croatia, with the registration of participants, a welcome speech by representatives of IAG, AIGeo, CGS, and GSS, and an introductory lecture on the geological and geomorphological framework of the Dinaric Alps, with particular attention to karst landscapes and the areas covered by the excursions.
The scientific programme will include three thematic sessions dedicated to karst, geoarchaeology and Holocene landscape archives; mountain geomorphology, cryosphere and sediment connectivity; and erosion processes, modelling and integrated geomorphological methods. These sessions will provide young researchers with the opportunity to present and discuss their work within an international and interdisciplinary context.
The field activities will take place across Croatia, Slovenia, and Italy, including visits to Zeleni vir and Vražji prolaz, the Škocjan Caves, Lazaret Bay, Debeli Rtič, and the rocky coasts of Savudrija. The meeting will conclude with the return to Trieste on 27 June 2026.
